Austria improves its ranking in Corruption Perceptions Index

The 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) was published on 30 January 2024. The non-governmental organisation Transparency International lists Austria in rank 20.

EBM commences work

The Investigation and Complaints Office for Allegations of Police Ill-treatment (Ermittlungs- und Beschwerdestelle Misshandlungsvorwürfe – EBM) starts work on 22 January 2024 as Department 4 of the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (Bundesamt zur Korruptionsprävention und Korruptionsbekämpfung – BAK).

BAK delegation at UN anti-corruption conference in Atlanta

Representatives of the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) took part in the Tenth Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Atlanta, USA from 11 to 15 December 2023. This is the largest global meeting on combating corruption.

Council of Ministers adopts National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan

On 11 October 2023, the Austrian National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NAKS) was adopted together with the new National Action Plan (NAP) in the Council of Ministers.

EPAC/EACN workshop on whistleblowing at the BAK

Members of the European Partners against Corruption (EPAC) and European contact-point network against corruption (EACN) met for a workshop on whistleblowing at the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) in Vienna on 28 and 29 September 2023. The event was attended by 30 participants and speakers from 19 different anti-corruption authorities and police oversight bodies.
