EU Rule of Law Cycle – virtual country visit of the European Commission

On 24 February 2022, a virtual country visit of the European Commission (EC) to Austria took place, which was also attended by two representatives of the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK).

During this year's country visit, there was a fruitful exchange of information between nine representatives of the European Commission and various departments of Austrian ministries. The Austrian representatives answered questions on the judicial system, the media, the system of checks and balances, and the fight against corruption.

The staff of the BAK’s Unit 2.3 (International Cooperation) answered the questions of the EC delegation on the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS), the evaluation of the strategy’s "2019-2020 Federal Action Plan”, and the BAK’s challenges in relation to investigative work.
