Visit to the BAK by a delegation of the Lithuanian Special Investigation Service (STT)
On 28 and 29 April 2026, the Austrian Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Lithuanian Special Investigation Service (STT). The professional exchange focused in particular on the promotion of international cooperation as well as parallels in investigative work and anti-corruption measures, resources available to the two authorities, structure and communication.
At the beginning, the visitors were given an overview of the BAK’s organisational structure, working methods and legal framework. Furthermore, the guests gained insights into the Bureau’s international cooperation as well as into the role and functioning of the IT unit and the related tools used for investigation and data backup.
In the afternoon, the delegation exchanged views with Department 3 (Corruption Investigations). This was followed by a presentation on the STT and best practice examples, which were discussed in more detail during a subsequent Q&A session. The day was rounded off with a meeting with experts from the Austrian Court of Audit.
The second day started with a meeting with representatives of the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BK). After an exchange on best practices, the delegation continued its visit at the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Laxenburg.
On the third day, the delegation paid a visit to the Ministry of Justice and the Central Public Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption (WKStA).
