BAK presentation at OSCE conference in Montenegro
On 6 and 7 October 2026, a conference organised by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) took place in Bar, Montenegro, on the topic of ‘Police Internal Oversight as a Tool Against Corruption Enabling Organized Crime: Approaches and Mechanisms for Prevention, Detection, and Prosecution’. BAK was also represented at the event by one of its experts, who gave a presentation on "Internal Oversight: Units and Organisational Models in the EU”.
In cooperation with the Montenegrin Ministry of the Interior and with the support of the United States Embassy in Montenegro, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organised a workshop to discuss anti-corruption approaches within the police. The event focused on using national and international expertise to promote the exchange of knowledge and information on corruption trends between internal oversight bodies, investigators and public prosecutors. A further aim of the conference was to strengthen cooperation and coordinated partnership between the region’s national police authorities in the fight against corruption.
The workshop was attended by representatives of Montenegrin institutions, regional partners from the Western Balkans and international experts. It provided an opportunity to share, develop and reinforce best practices from the European Union and the United States. The BAK was also represented at the conference by a staff member who, following his presentation on "Internal Oversight: Units Organization Models in the EU” also acted as an expert in the subsequent panel discussion.
