BAK delegation at ENPE General Assembly

This year's plenary meeting of the European Network for Public Ethics (ENPE) took place in Budapest on 16 and 17 October 2025. The meeting focused on the topic of ‘Control and monitoring of conflicts of interest to combat corruption’ in the public sector. The Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) was represented by a delegation.

This year's event was hosted by the Hungarian Integrity Authority. The participants, consisting of representatives of public authorities, experts and members of civil society, addressed the central topic of ‘effective control and monitoring of conflicts of interest to combat corruption’. Various approaches and best practices from different perspectives were discussed, as well as their implementation.

Following a panel discussion with representatives from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the European Union, ENPE members were given concrete examples from practice by the Spanish Office for Conflicts of Interest in connection with the verification of the asset declarations of high-ranking civil servants. In addition, the Hungarian Integrity Authority presented a project entitled ‘Developing analytical capabilities through the introduction of innovative, data-driven systems to reduce irregularities in the use of EU funds’.

On the second day of the conference, the Slovenian network partners held a presentation on awareness-raising and communication in relation to dealing with conflicts of interest, asset declarations and declarations of interest which was followed by an organisational exchange and a presentation on the ENPE website.

ENPE – European Network for Public Ethics

The European Network for Public Ethics is a network currently comprising fifteen authorities from European Union member states. It was founded in June 2022 on the initiative of the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life in France. Its objectives are to facilitate regular exchanges between members, promote ethics and transparency in the public sector, and raise the profile of these issues in the EU.
