Austria sets international milestone – UNCAC Resolution adopted

The world's largest anti-corruption conference CoSP held from 15 to 19 December 2025 in Doha, Qatar, unanimously adopted a resolution on corruption prevention and integrity promotion among children and young people, tabled by Austria, Slovenia and Chile.

The Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) initiated this resolution and thus made an important contribution to the international fight against corruption. The resolution, adopted by consensus of the 192 States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), underlines the importance of integrity and ethical values in the education of children and young people and aims to help prevent corruption in the long term. Through this initiative, Austria has underlined its pioneering role in the international fight against corruption and BAK has strengthened its role as a national focal point for corruption prevention matters.

The UNCAC Plenary Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution of Austria, Slovenia and Chile. It identifies possible ways to promote integrity among children and young people as an important pillar for preventing corruption and strengthening trust in public institutions. The resolution, entitled "Strengthening education activities and programmes on ethical values, integrity and anti-corruption for children and young people as a significant pillar to prevent corruption and enhance trust in public institutions", is the result of intensive negotiations between delegations and has generated worldwide resonance.

The importance of this resolution is to raise awareness among states that trust in public institutions and educational initiatives are crucial for preventing corruption.

CoSP is the world's largest anti-corruption conference with over 2,500 participants and 130 special events. This year, it recorded a record number of 11 resolutions. The resolution of Austria, Slovenia and Chile, as well as other initiatives such as the launch of the next phase of the UNCAC review mechanism, constitute important steps in the international fight against corruption.
