On 29 April 2022, representatives of the Mexican Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática (INEGI) were received at the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) to learn about the BAK and its tasks in the field of preventing and fighting corruption in Austria.

The Mexican delegation was on a working visit to Vienna and had expressed interest in visiting the BAK to obtain general information on the Federal Bureau, its remit and on current examples of anti-corruption and accountability work in Austria. The delegation from Mexico included the head of the internal oversight body of INEGI, Manuel Rodríguez Murillo, and two other staff members. The delegation was accompanied by two representatives of the Mexican Embassy in Vienna.

Thomas Tschiggerl welcomed the participants and introduced the BAK and its Department 2 with the units Prevention, Education and International Cooperation. He also presented current examples from the work of the Federal Bureau. The aim of the short visit was to give the guests from Mexico an overview of the BAK's scope of duties as well as current practical examples from the prevention of and fight against corruption in Austria. In the subsequent discussion, the delegation members were particularly interested in the evaluation based on indicators of the Austrian National Anti-Corruption Strategy and in the legal basis of the BAK.
