UNCAC: review of Austria’s prevention work

In the framework of the Implementation Review Mechanism of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), Austria is currently being evaluated on Chapters II (Preventive measures) and V (Asset recovery) of the UNCAC.

At the end of May, the countries carrying out the review (Germany and Vietnam) were drawn by lots.

As a first step, numerous Austrian institutions, including the Austrian Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK), have been requested to provide answers to a standardized self-assessment checklist.

Subsequently, representatives of Germany and Vietnam will assess the Austrian implementation of the above-mentioned UNCAC chapters on the basis of the answers and documents provided by Austria ("desk review") as well as on the spot, in direct dialogue between the experts.

The results of the evaluation of Austria are expected in 2020.
