Lecture given by the BAK at the 22nd German Congress on Crime Prevention

The main topic of the 22nd German Congress on Crime Prevention, which took place from 19 to 20 June 2017 in Hanover, was "Prevention and Integration”. This two-day congress on crime prevention is the largest event of its kind in Europe and is organized by the non-profit association "German Congress on Crime Prevention (GCOCP)” (in German: Deutscher Präventionstag – DPT). This year, a representative of the BAK was among about 3,500 participants.

The BAK Operational Service processes more than 300 investigation cases annually. BAK investigators work on cases of bribery, corruptibility, offering or accepting an advantage, abuse of official authority, breach of official secrecy, breach of trust, agreements restricting competition, and other punishable acts.

Events

Lectures, trainings, seminars, and other events are crucial parts of corruption prevention. Not only does BAK staff teach at basic training courses of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the BAK also provides advanced training courses, and basic training programmes for integrity officers. The Anti-Corruption Day is the annual highlight of the event calendar.

That is the question the evaluation team by the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) dealt with during their country visit in Reykjavik from 2 to 6 October 2017. The evaluation team consisted of experts from Latvia, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, and the GRECO Secretariat.
