Corruption Prevention in the BAK
|
The BAK shall analyse corruption phenomena, gather information on preventing and combating them and develop appropriate preventive measures.
The Bureau strives to develop a comprehensive, evidence-based and sustainability- oriented catalogue of selected measures to prevent corruption.
The BAK considers corruption prevention to be the totality of measures aiming to stop corruption.
Within the BAK, the “Department IV/BAK/2 – Prevention, Education and Basic Groundwork” is responsible for fulfilling these tasks.
Areas of responsibility of the Department 2:
Prevention
• Carrying out analyses • Development and implementation of prevention measures • Practical implementation of empirical and theoretical findings
Education
• Courses, seminars and lectures on corruption and abuse of authority • Organization of national conferences and events (Austrian Anti-Corruption Day)
Statistics & Analysis
• Collection and treatment of relevant data concerning the BAK’s investigation cases
Fundamental Research and Coordination
• Cause study • Cooperation and networking with national and international research institutions and anti-corruption stakeholders • Development and implementation or, respectively, allocation and/or supervision of research projects
